So since weight loss is not really my goal at the moment, I suppose I'll use this to blog about my new perspective on pregnancy. I think everyone goes through that first pregnancy thinking they can "eat for two" and it'll be fine cause they'll lose the weight when they breastfeed. Pitiful philosophy as I have discovered! As I've said many times before, I am certain that I put on all of my pre-Weight Watchers weight and the baby weight during my last pregnancy. I never got back down to pre-Brendan weight between these two. But that's okay.
It's really odd but I feel healthier this pregnancy. I feel like my eating habits are sooooooo much better even though there is still much room for improvement. I'm much more in tune with my body too. For example, when I eat a light lunch and drink enough water and don't overdo it on dinner, I feel fine most of the day. When I eat fast food for all 3 meals, I feel awful by the time I go to bed. My weight has fluctuated within a 5 pound range and it all depends on what I eat during the day. I've been drinking a lot of juice too instead of relying on non-caffeinated sodas. I had a Sprite with lunch the other day and really wondered why I didn't get lemonade. I just hope I can convince myself that these habits are what will help me continue losing weight while breastfeeding and after.
Our friends are all doing the Warrior Race on May 2nd near Dallas. Wish I had a link, I'll have to go find it. Actually, to be more specific, the guy friends and Claire are doing it. Claire is awesome, she's done a half-marathon before. And her and her fiance are getting married a couple of weeks later so she's thinking about buying a thrift store wedding dress to run the race in. We are seriously encouraging this! The race is 3.6 miles and has lots of obstacles. It's sort of like what they do in basic training. There's stuff to climb, things to swim under, and of course army crawling through mud under barbed wire. Personally, I don't care if I am in the best shape of my life, even I am too girly to crawl through mud that who knows how many other people have crawled through. It's the last obstacle of the course too. And the guys favorite part, they are greeted with a beer at the end of the race. If I were them, I would save the beer until after at least a glass of water! Since I will still be pregnant, I will be cheering them on. A few other girls will be with me too. Brent is taking this as a great time to start up running again and eating better. I think he's already lost some weight too!
That's all for now! Hope everyone is still doing good on their weight loss goals. Hoping to be back to where I am now by the end of the year and back to where I was pre-Brendan by the end of 2011.

ReplyDeleteI think we may have talked my dad into getting a Wii Fit. Does that mean first he needs to buy the base Wii system, and then the Wii Fit software and hardware on top of it? - Miriam the clueless
Sorry... I'm just now seeing this comment. He will have to buy a Wii and then buy the Wii Fit game and balance board. That's awesome! I highly recommend them.
