Giving up... Moving on

Well, we're stopping this dumb diet. We just don't like vegetables enough. BUT, we're taking some lessons with us as we move on. After the first week I think we both thought that they would be able to help us and motivate us and for the most part we got a "suck it up" type attitude. Our lives revolve around hanging out with friends and part of that includes eating. I'm not saying we're giving up on weight loss but we need a more lenient program for our lifestyle! So we've decided to head to Weight Watchers again. We tried to do WW on our own with apps and such, but we've decided to use the website. Our schedules don't have enough room for the meetings and I didn't really like them that much anyway. And after we lose the weight we are determined to continue eating well and smaller portions. Which our current diet has helped us to learn. It's really hard to believe that it's been 5 years since I started WW the last time. But it is the only thing that I have been successful on AND happy, which I now know is the most important part. And we've kickstarted our metabolisms pretty well so I think it'll be good. I am down 9 lbs, 43 to go! (Sidenote: I lost 30 lbs on WW the first time in 6 months. Can't wait to see September this year! 30 lbs would be down to wedding weight.) Brent is down 22 lbs, 24 to go!

First weigh-in

We did good! I lost 7 lbs in the first week and Brent lost 17. We're getting really bored, really fast though. It's one of those things that I know I feel better than I have in a long time. However, it's tough eating the same things over and over and over again. We don't like that many veggies and so it's tough to make them fresh and new. The Walden Farms brand of sauces helps a little. In fact, we're going to order the alfredo sauce soon. Part of it is that we are used diets where you can go out and it's not the end of the world. They make it sound like it is on this plan. We had decided we were going to cheat on weigh-in nights and at least have a burger or something small. We changed our minds though. I think if it was just their bars and drinks for breakfast, lunch, and snack, we'd have no problem. But adding veggies for lunch is pretty awful for us. We're just not big veggie eaters at all! I love the night time meals. I could eat steak (or chicken or pork or shrimp) and two cups of veggies for a meal every night and be perfectly happy. For me, I miss cheese, chocolate, and wine the most. Wine and chocolate was our date night, stress relief, and celebration thing. Ok, I'm complaining a lot. Obviously this is good. Part of the problem is that corn and potatoes are NOT allowed and green beans are allowed twice a week. For us, these three were staples. So we're having to learn to eat new stuff or stuff that we did like in a different way. The other funny thing though, is I get most cranky at lunch. By the time dinner rolls around, as long as I had my snack, I'm usually ok and ready to finish out the day. I'm making this sound like it's the worst diet ever. I like it. It makes sense. But it's a big change from the norm and so it's tough. I'm glad to be doing this now when the kids are young. And I'm glad we're feeling better because of it.

Le Sigh

I cannot do math. I have only lost 4 lbs. And I should note that Brent has been exercising and I have not. I tried to update our tickers to show our new starting weights and goals, but Ticker Factory was being dumb. So they're gone for now. Maybe I'll add them again later.
